JUNKO KOSHINO designs the new uniforms for Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd., which marks its 140th anniversary of founding in fiscal 2025. The design concept is “UNITY” (the power to bind, and solidarity). For KOSHINO, the origin of the uniform lies in the happi coats of the Kishiwada danjiri festival — the strong bonds and sense of unity born of wearing the same attire and joining forces. Rooted deeply in her heart, this worldview is one she wished to reflect in the uniforms of Nankai Electric Railway, a company tied to her hometown of Kishiwada. Born of the belief that a uniform is not mere workwear but a vital element that heightens employees’ pride and motivation, the uniform achieves both beauty and function through a genderless, timeless, simple design, easy-care materials, and a construction that allows freedom of movement.
