On October 15, 2013, JUNKO KOSHINO held a fashion show as the opening event for the Fashion Centre of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Making full use of this state-of-the-art fashion centre — fully equipped with a dedicated runway, sound, lighting, and video facilities — the show became a collection in which music and JUNKO KOSHINO’s graphics were fused at a high level. The costumes’ cell-inspired patterns were expressed as a process of proliferation across the monitors on either side, while the shifting patterns were projected onto a giant cloak in an experimental, dreamlike opening. The venue, with a capacity of around 500, was packed to overflowing with fashion professionals, art-school students, and members of the public. In her opening remarks, Łódź Mayor Zdanowska commented, “This fashion show by Ms. JUNKO KOSHINO is a landmark event for the city of Łódź, and we hope that the relationship between Łódź and Japan will grow steadily, like the cherry trees from the planting ceremony held last week with Ambassador Yamanaka.” After the show, at the reception, the Mayor of Łódź announced that JUNKO KOSHINO would become an honorary citizen of the city.
