As an event commemorating the 60th anniversary of the restoration of Japan–Poland diplomatic relations, JUNKO KOSHINO produced the tourism and cultural exchange gathering “Dance and Fashion,” held in Warsaw, Poland, on November 24, 2016.
The event featured an oiran courtesan, a Kagamijishi (lion dance) performance, and “Dance and Fashion” — dresses produced by JUNKO KOSHINO using Kyo-yuzen and Nishijin-ori techniques, tied to the revitalisation of local communities and traditional industries. It also included a re-creation of the fashion show held at the Kyoto National Museum in 2015 to mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Rinpa school, a Visual Jockey performance evoking a graphical Japan, and a Kagamijishi lion dance performed by Juraku Hanayagi — an event that expressed the world of Japonisme embodied by JUNKO KOSHINO.
